Spray dryers and pneumatic conveying of products use fluidising air systems. Slurry or cake materials are blended and dried in a single continuous process. The process controls ensure that the supply air brings the correct amount of fluidising energy to allow the product to flow easily. The air-material mixture can then take the product to a hopper for packaging and distribution. The fans require very precise airflow controls and moisture control is critical to the product condition. Combinations of fan inlet and outlet dampers with speed controls are not uncommon. A premium is placed on the highest efficiency fans in these systems.
